Satchmo SummerFest is one of the biggest music festivals that take place in New Orleans. The festival was started on 2001 and within a short span of time it evolved to be an international Jazz festival with participation of musicians and audience from all over the world.

Satchmo SummerFest was started as a tribute to the contribution of Satchmo Armstrong to commemorate his 100th anniversary. In the first year, the festival was so much successful that it was established as an annual event.

Satchmo SummerFest takes place around the Old US Mint opposite the French Market at Barracks Street and Esplanade Avenue. The 2010 festival is scheduled to be held on April 23 to May 2.
